A sunset from Roger
An uncommon sight, but not rare apparently, this white pheasant was spotted near Fairy Steps.

Climbing and evening walk - Warton Crag
This was the first evening of the year for the Shinscrapers to get out onto a local crag instead of being inside on the Kendal Climbing Wall. Upper Warton Crag was the choice, and whilst they were enjoying their routes, the walking members enjoyed a walk under Warton Crag to Leighton Hall, returning over Warton Crag. Drinks were enjoyed in the New Inn at Yealand afterwards. Thanks to Kath and Mike for organising both events.

Climbers - Sarah, Steve, Mick, Mike, and Colin
Walkers - Roger, Kath, Tony, Sandra, Clare, Val Calder, Val Hunter, Sue, Gordon, Tony, and Hugh

A five tree tree!

This tree is situated near the bottom of the wad mines opposite High House, and is interesting as being an ash tree with four other tree species growing out of it: holly, larch, sycamore, and birch

Mid-week Walk - Birkwith and Alum Pot.
This was Frank's walk, and very sensibly decided to meet in the cafe in Horton-in-Ribblesdale for coffee. Suitably refreshed, the walk led up the Pennine Way to Sell Gill Holes where we branched off to High Birkwith. Over looking the incident of Colin getting detached from the main group, we passed through Low Birkwith and took lunch by the young river Ribble. Then onto Selside and a return to Horton via Sulber Nick. An excellent walk Frank, thanks very much

A sign post accurate to one furlong!
